About All India Radio - Manjeri FM:

The FM station of All India Radio in Manjeri inaugurated on Saturday, Jan 28, 2006 by Union Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed. Equipped with a 3 KV transmitter, it is envisaged as a regional radio station for Malappuram district. Programmes broadcast by the radio station can be received in FM band on 102.7 Mega Hertz. The FM station of All India Radio is located Eastern side of Manjeri city which is called “College Kunnu”,(Near NSS College).A large number of local people gathered to witness the launch of the FM station, which had been the dream of Manjeri for many years.Majority of listeners of the Kozhikode radio station are from the Malappuram district. Despite the proliferation of TV, radio still enjoys a good following here.

About Manjeri

Manjeri is the centre of Eranadu taluk. It is one of the fast growing cities of Kerala today.Manjeri is a small town in Malappuram district in Kerala, south India. It is the commercial capital of Malappuram district and is 25 km from Calicut International Airport and 50 km from Kozhikode railway station. It was a live center of the National movement. Anakkayam 2 km. from Manjeri was an important center in 1921 mass upsurge. Anti British revolts took place from 1790 itself, in and around Manjeri. Most of the government institutions and many offices such as district court, Medical College Hospital are located in Manjeri.
